Stamps.com Automatically Updated With New USPS Postage Rates

Related: Stamps, News

Stamps.com provider of USPS postage online and shipping software to over 400,000 customers, today announced that its mailing and shipping solution was automatically updated with the new U.S. Postal Service rates that went into effect yesterday. This update ensures that Stamps.com customers are able to seamlessly transition to the new USPS rates and services and can calculate and print postage for their letters and packages. The automatic update is free for all Stamps.com customers.

"For business owners, changes to postage rates and shipping services can create new opportunities and challenges," said CEO and Chairman Ken McBride. "To make this transition easy for customers, the Stamps.com mailing and shipping solution instantly provides new USPS rates and services the second they become available."

Highlights of the 2013 USPS postage rate increase include:

  • Postage rates increased for all USPS mail classes, including letters. The one-ounce letter rate increased from 45 cents to 46 cents, while the rate for additional ounces remained the same at 20 cents. The postcard rate increased from 32 cents to 33 cents.
  • First-Class Mail International packages have been renamed First-Class Package International Service. The service now includes Commercial Base discounts of up to 10% off retail Post Office prices.
  • Online postage customers (such as Stamps.com customers) continue to receive discounted rates for Express Mail, Priority Mail, First-Class Package Service and international package shipping. The discounted rates offer up to 63% off retail Post Office prices.
  • A First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp has been introduced to send a one-ounce letter or postcard to any country in the world for $1.10.
