MobileSpan Announces Plug-In BYOD for Enterprise; Raises $2.3 Million in Oversubscribed Series A Round

MobileSpan today announced MobileSpan for BYOD, the next generation remote access platform for personal devices in the enterprise. MobileSpan is the first platform to seamlessly plug into existing corporate systems and extend the reach of enterprise document repositories and web applications to BYO devices. MobileSpan for BYOD addresses both the enterprise and the individual by arming employees with the power of corporate information on their personal devices without the threat of lost or mishandled data or the high cost of managing devices.

The BYOD trend is being driven by both end-users who want to choose what devices they use and where they use them, and IT departments who want to get out of the "asset management" business. In fact, a recent study by Forrester on the consumerization of IT* revealed that 60% of enterprises currently have or are planning BYOD programs for smartphones while more than 40% are looking to BYOD for tablets and laptops.

With a feature-rich product and a rapidly growing need in the market, MobileSpan secured an oversubscribed $2.3 million series A round of funding to drive future growth. True Ventures led the financing with participation from Greylock, K9 Ventures, Alchemist Accelerator, and several notable Angels. The company will use the capital to invest in R&D and marketing in 2013.

MobileSpan for BYOD will be showcased on Thursday, January 17 during Alchemist Accelerator Demo Day in Mountain View, CA. Alchemist Accelerator is a new accelerator targeted exclusively at startups whose revenue comes from enterprises.
