Everyone is expecting Microsoft to *finally* announce the newest edition of their Xbox system this year and now all signs are pointing to a major launch announcement at E3 2013, June 11 - 13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The first generation was released on November 15, 2001 in North America, followed by a November 2005 launch of the Xbox 360 making an update long overdue.
Today, Microsoft's Larry Hryb (known as Major Nelson in gaming circles) posted a countdown clock to E3 on his blog which is only adding fuel to the fire.
Rumors about the next generation device have the system being more close aligned with other recent Microsoft releases including Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and the Surface. We'll know more in 159 days!
The latest update was a 4GB 360 with Kinect, released in November of 2010 that was seen as a widely discounted holiday item. That device canmewith the newly designed Xbox 360 that includes built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, 4GB of internal flash memory, touch sensitive buttons and a custom port for the easiest connection to controller-free fun of Kinect for Xbox 360.
