GammaTech Unveils Semi-Rugged Ultra-Mobile Personal Computer

GammaTech Computer Corp., has just announced the latest model of its semi-rugged ultra-mobile tablet PC (UMPC), Durabook model CA10. The unit features a 10.1" TFT LCD display with resistive multi-touch screen panel, meets Military Standard 810G and IP43 standard for drop, shock, dust and water resistance, has hot swappable dual-battery design that offers up to eight hours of power, and a quick menu support for easy operability.

"Access to a computer away from an office setting is very important in today's world," stated Jen Chen, GammaTech president. "The CA10 will benefit many different mobile-oriented service industries, including retail, logistics, healthcare and especially field service workers in the utilities, fleet management, and public safety sectors. Its durability, long battery life, various wireless connections, and dust and spray resistance capabilities make it especially suitable for these ultra-mobile individuals, who often find themselves in harsh environments."

The GammaTech semi-rugged Durabook CA10 provides utility workers, public safety employees, fleet managers, and many others with the information they need no matter where they are. Its wireless connectivity increases their productivity and efficiency while keeping them in touch with company networks. Additionally, optional GPS technology enables them to get exactly where they need to be.

Special Features for Field Service Applications
A host of special features makes using the CA10 in the field an easy, enjoyable experience. Its 10.1" TFT LCD display has a two-point resistive touch-screen panel. It also supports a digitizer for turning analog touch inputs into digital inputs. An optional stylus pen provides stability and convenience. The unit also supports a variety of wireless communications such as Intel Wi-Fi Link 135 and Bluetooth 4.0 as well as offering optional Mini PCI-E for WWAN/GPS (3G or LTE module) and RFID/NFC module.

Long periods of time away from an electric outlet are made acceptable with the unit's dual-battery design with true hot-swap capability. Together, the two battery packs offer up to eight hours of power. Among the unit's quick menu capabilities are on/off switches for its RF device, barcode scanner, and RFID/NFC; volume and brightness adjustment; on-screen keyboard, and others. The CA10 also includes a Smart card reader, pin pad device, and a magnetic swipe reader for use in applications involving some type of monetary transaction.
