CNet has a big scoop this morning reporting on a major upcoming announcement from powerhouse Amazon.com, that's being referred to internally as 'auto rip'. (ed note: we think the name will improve before it's released to the public).
The company is said to soon announce that those who buy CDs from Amazon, will also automatically receive the same music digitally delivered via their Amazon cloud. One of the issues said to be holding up the imminent launch is deciding if they are able to include songs from PAST CD purchases as well.
This sounds like a good reward for those who are still purchasing physical media, and a nice tradeoff since they'd get intsant gratification while waiting for their hard copy. It also surely would be good will for Amazon who is eager to promote their cloud offerings vs. those now offered by both Apple and Google.
Tell us what you think in the comments below. Are you still ordering physical media?
